Hello CCT™ Alums! In this video, I talk about my battle for self-appreciation! This is a hard week for me but I am happy to report some progress! I love the idea that we can connect to our basic goodness and wish ourselves well. Sounds easy, does hard. This all is very potent piece of our self-compassion work! Let’s do this!Compassion and Self-Compassion for Beginners: Week 3 of 8

Compassion and Self-Compassion for Beginners: Week 3 of 8
Self Compassion is not what you think it is. Many people think it is going to the spa or having a nice meal out. In reality, it is much deeper than that and starts with the courage to identify your own suffering and ends with asking yourself what you can do to help. There are a few steps in between. Oh yeah – it helps heal shame and high self-criticism. Pretty important for health and well being!Compassion Cultivation Training©: Renew Your Practice (Week 3 of 8)

Self Compassion is the antidote to high self criticism and also helps us with shame.Compassion and Self-Compassion for Beginners: Week 2 of 8

Compassion and Self-Compassion for Beginners: Week 2 of 8
Why do we avoid suffering and by extension, compassion and self-compassion? Mostly because it can be painful or uncomfortable and we don’t want to feel those feelings. We think if we avoid our suffering, it will somehow go away. It doesn’t. It gets worse. In this series we talk about the courage to see suffering in others and ourselves. And what to do about it. Do you want to know how to develop the courage and strength to face difficulties in your life and in the lives of your loved ones? We face suffering to decrease and end suffering. That’s a good enough motivation for me! Join me, Dr. Sara Owens Woodard and we will do it together!

Hello all you CCT Alums out there! Welcome to Week 2 (of 8) of my Renew Your Practice series! In this video, I talk a little bit about Compassion for a Loved One and how we identify the physical sensations and “felt sense” of what compassion feels like in our bodies. I also talk about how different emotions affect our bodies and how you can practice to improve your health and wellbeing. Get back on track with me! Don’t forget to grab your notes and take-aways from your own CCT class to the video.Compassion and Self-Compassion for Beginners: Week 1 of 8

Compassion and Self-Compassion for Beginners: Week 1 of 8
Join me for an 8 week series on how to start developing Compassion Balance – balance between compassion and self compassion. I start here by defining the terms and encouraging you to embark on a week long self observation journey. Where and when are you compassionate/self-compassionate? Where and when do you lose your compassion or fail to offer yourself compassion? Spoiler alert: None of us are that great at being consistently compassionate and most of us lack self compassion in a big way. It can bring a lot of warmth, connectedness and joy to do it! SO let’s go!

Hello CCT Alums! I am happy to announce that I will be publishing a series of 8 videos that are designed to remind you a bit about your training and help you get back into the practice and mindset of a CCT Alum! In the first video I talk about the importance of inserting a 5 minute practice time of breath focused awareness into your daily schedule. Dr. Richard Davidson says if we can do 5 minutes a day every day we are on the path to life long practice. Let’s do it together!
